Persephone's Choice: Every Woman's Dilemma
With Persephone, Greek Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld as both a starting point and inspiration, this conceptual photographic series also became an exploration of the meaning of being female with both body and mind. The thirteen images from the series presented here became a basis for discussion of myth and meaning. More than that, the images are about a woman defining for herself what it means to be a woman, rather than accepting a definition imposed by Society. What began as a small personal project for this photographer also became a search for meaning of self, reflecting back on life as a woman, anthropologist, and obstetrician-gynecologist.
A discussion of many aspects of this photo-essay is available in Susan's Kindle e-book, Persephone's Choice, available through Amazon. The book can be read on any device with the free Kindle app.
This photo-essay series features Kelly Angerosa in her debut as a professional model in the role of Persephone.
