INSECTS AMONGST THE FLOWERS: A MICROCOSM OF LIFE, WORK, AND DEATH (A work in progress)
Series Description: “Existence is illusory and it is eternal” ~ Albert Camus. The struggles and dramas of life are at work in often unnoticed gardens. Amongst the flowers, insects gather food; struggle against the elements; rest; mate; are killed by a different species; or die by sexual cannibalism after mating. Few, if any, will be alive the following Spring, when the offspring of many will appear to begin a new cycle of life. Life of tiny insects amongst common flowers is beautiful and fascinating. Photographed in 2017 in a small garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Why? I had fun. More importantly, many of these insects – as we ourselves - are threatened by human activity. I hope to give a “ face” to their often-overlooked world.
